SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Allie Gibson

Allie Gibson joined Hayward Adult School (HAS) in 1999 after a successful 31-year career in healthcare. In healthcare she worked as a Health Information Management Administrator, Consultant, Teacher (Train the Trainer), Assistant Hospital Administrator, Hospital Administrator and Hospital Owner.

Allie began her career in Rochester, New York as a Receptionist and Medical Secretary associated with the University of Rochester Hospital. In California she began as a Medical Transcriptionist and quickly moved into Administration, first in Health Information Management and then became Assistant Hospital Administrator. As a free lance consultant, Allie worked in Acute, Long-term and Hospice care facilities. She opened the 1st Alzheimer’s long-term care facility in Castro Valley in 1983.

Allie has several teaching credentials, the most recent certification as a BLS-CPR teacher.

Since joining HAS, Allie has worked with Kaiser Permanente and designed various Certificate Programs that align with many entry-level positions in Kaiser East-Bay. She has served as the local chapter CCAE Co-President, conducted a bi-lingual Medical Interpreter’s class, has been a member of the Hayward Planned Parenthood Board and an instructor in re-training Kaiser employees being reassigned by the conversion to electronic medical records.

In recent years, Allie has been active in creating curriculum for three highly sought after positions in the medical field, namely, CCA prep class, Administrative Medical Assisting and Hospital Unit/Admitting Clerks & Management Prep Exams. She has spearheaded the creation of the 1st HOSA chapter in Hayward and serves as the HOSA chapter advisor.

Allie has a degree in Health Information Management as an RHIT. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and has her Masters’ in Education. She is an active member of AHIMA, CHIA, AAHE & HOSA.
